Part I · Straighten Your Crown
CHAPTER 02Stop Shrinking to Fit
People pleasing · Comparison · Approval · Voice · Healthy space
Shrinking rarely starts as weakness. It starts as intelligence. You read a room, you notice what keeps it calm, and you make yourself smaller so nobody has to adjust. Do that for fifteen years and you can end up an expert on everyone's comfort but your own.
Taking up healthy space is not the same as taking over. It means your preference counts as data. It means when someone asks what you think, you answer with what you actually think, and let the room handle it.
Keep these
- “Being agreeable is not the same as being at peace.”
- “You cannot be everybody's easy and still be your own.”
- “Comparison will have you competing for a life you never wanted.”
Practical steps
- Answer one question this week with your real opinion first, before softening it.
- Mute three accounts that make you audit yourself.
- Practice a full sentence with no apology at the front of it.
- Sit in the middle of the room instead of the edge, once, on purpose.
