Part II · Life Will Life
CHAPTER 06When Your Heart Gets Broken
Heartbreak · Betrayal · Letting go · Trusting yourself again
Heartbreak is not only about losing a person. It is about losing the version of the future you had already started decorating. Grieve both. One of them was real and one of them was a plan, and both of them hurt.
Be careful in this season. Pain makes fast decisions look like courage. Give yourself a rule: no permanent choices while the wound is fresh.
Keep these
- “Closure is usually something you give yourself, not something you're handed.”
- “You can miss someone and still be right to leave.”
- “Do not spend a year decoding someone who told you plainly who they were.”
Practical steps
- Write the letter you will never send. Keep it or burn it.
- Set a 90-day rule on major decisions: no moving, no lending, no tattoos of anybody's name.
- Tell one trusted person the whole truth of it.
- Take back one small routine that used to be yours.
