Part V · Her Next Chapter
CHAPTER 20Build a Life You Don't Need to Escape From
Values · Priorities · Routines · Joy · Legacy
If you need a vacation to survive your own life, the problem is not the vacation budget. Look at the ordinary Tuesday. That is where your life actually happens — not on the two good weeks a year.
Build from values, not from pressure. Decide the three things that matter most in this season, and let your week look like those three things. Everything else is negotiable, and most of it is noise.
Keep these
- “Design the ordinary day. That is the life.”
- “Joy is a maintenance item, not a luxury purchase.”
- “Legacy is what people repeat about you when you are not in the room.”
Practical steps
- Name your top three values for this season and audit your week against them.
- Add one small joy to your regular routine, not your bucket list.
- Cut one obligation that serves nothing but appearances.
- Write the sentence you'd want your daughters or nieces to repeat about you.
